How to change a broken or defective Post Mix Wunderbar gun
(1) Shut down the Machine
Its always best to turn the machine off and de-pressurize it before working on the wunderbar guns, to do this you turn the machine off at the power point, turn the water off and turn the gas bottle off.
Once that is all done then hold down all the buttons on the wunderbar gun until everything stops coming out. By doing this it will lessen the amount of syrup and water you get on you.
(2)
(a) Removing the wunderbar gun Part 1 (Leaving the manifold in place)
It is not always necessary to remove the whole wunderbar gun, depending of what part of the gun is faulty, if you follow the gun back to its base you will find a black manifold, this manifold separates allowing you to replace the top half while leaving the syrups adjustment side attached to the system.
To separate the manifold, you will find a series of U shaped pins holding the 2 half’s together.
Gently raise the pins (not removing them as they can be hard to get back in the holes), once all the pins are lifted there is a white ball leaver that you can slide to separate the two half (or simple pull the apart).
Place the new wunderbar gun into the position the old one was removed from and push the pins back into place to lock tight.
Next you need to leak test, turn the water, gas and machine back on and check to make sure it is not leaking anywhere.
If it is leaking start from the beginning and double check all connections are tight.
By using this method, you should not have to Brix the system as the manifold that controls the syrup’s was not touched.

(b) Removing the wunderbar gun Part 2 (Changing the manifold)
It is sometimes necessary to change the whole wunderbar gun including the manifold, to do this you need to loosen the u shaped lock pins holding the tubes into place that run into the back of the wunderbar soda gun.
Do this one at a time transferring them to the new gun as you do each line (don’t forget to secure them down with the lock pins) it is important to get them into the correct holes so only do one at a time.
Once all the tubes are connected your new gun is in.
Next you need to leak test, turn the water, gas and machine back on and check to make sure it is not leaking anywhere.
If it is leaking start from the beginning and double check all connections are tight.

(3) Brixing
Now your new wunderbar gun is in place you need to make sure that all the buttons are in the right place and the syrups strength is correct.
Step one is the buttons, get the old wunderbar gun and compare the buttons to the new wunderbar gun, they need to be in the same place as what was coming out of the old gun as what is coming out the new gun and in the same place.
For standard buttons (carbonated drinks) you can just pry the top of the button off with a flat head screw driver and push it back into place on the correct spot.
If however you need to change a button from carbonated to non-carbonated i.e to use for orange juice, You need to get your old gun and using a philips head screw driver remove the screw from the top and bottom of the button plate then remove the cover (NEVER REMOVE THE REAR PLAT) then do the same for the new gun.
Under the buttons attached to the gun you will see 4 silver plate these plates control what is mixed with water and what with soda water. You need to configure the new gun so the plates are the same as the old gun, you can use the plates from the old gun if you need to as the plates are standard across the wunderbar series.
When screwing in the screws that hold down the plates do it firm but not tight or loose. Put the gun back together.
Next we need to look at the syrup strength, if you changed the whole gun over this is essential as new guns are not usually set correct, however if you separated the manifold and only replaced half the gun it should still be set up as it was before.
To brix the gun you will need a brixing cup and syrup separator.
Please refer to this video tutorial on how this step done.
